Guest Speaker: Patrick Cadwell, Dublin City University
I work in the discipline of Translation Studies at Dublin City University. I teach and research about the translation of language and culture, and I am fascinated by the various ways in which translation and translators can affect society. In particular, I look at the role of translation in more effective crisis communication and disaster risk reduction.
I use Vevox all the time in my teaching.
This talk will be a personal account of how my use of Vevox has evolved over the last four years. Like many educators, I first turned to such platforms to cope with the demands of teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I have continued to use the tool to better address the diversity of our students’ needs, learn more about them quickly, and scaffold some of their learning.
