Guest Speaker: Liam Bagley, Manchester Metropolitan University
I am a Senior Lecturer of Physiology at Manchester Metropolitan University. My research interests are in the areas of exercise capacity and functional health in healthy ageing and its applications to assessing surgical risk. Working with colleagues in nursing in my education role, I have been able to bring this experience to my learners by teaching the theoretical principles and assessments completed in the lab and clinic using XR solutions for small group teaching.
I then began using Vevox to bring this type of learning to large cohorts of learners using interactive storytelling in the lecture theatre, where learners are able to get a taste of the workplace environments they aspire to.
My use of Vevox goes from formatively assessing learners achievement of learning outcomes, then using polling to apply knowledge and understanding under simulated 'real world' pressures which match our students career aspirations.
In this session, I will share my practical ideas for delivering 'real world' scenario training to large cohorts in the lecture theatre.
